Warm Weather Closing the Slopes

    People trying to hit the slopes this holiday weekend may be disappointed. This season's lack of snow has left the trails at many local ski resorts bare. Most of the 22 resorts in the D.C. area have a third, to one half of their trails open. A few resorts are closed all together. Check out the stats below and see if your favorite mountain is open for business.

    Area ski conditions on Thursday, December 29 A.M.:

    Pennsylvania:

    Seven Springs – 42 trails, 9 open; 1 inch of new snow

    Whitetail – Currently closed; 23 trails, 0 open; making snow

    Liberty Mountain Resort – Currently closed; 16 trails, 0 open; making snow

    Ski Roundtop – Currently closed; 16 trails, 0 open; making snow

    Hidden Valley – 28 trails, 12 open; 2 inches of new snow

    Blue Knob – 34 trails, 4 open; 2 inches of new snow

    Bear Creek – Currently closed; 21 trails, 0 open; not making snow

    Blue Mountain – 39 trails, 17 open; no new snow

    Shawnee Mountain – 23 trails, 11 open; no new snow

    Camelback – 34 trails, 17 open; no new snow

    Jack Frost Big Boulder – 15 trails, 9 open; no new snow

    Sno Mountain – 26 trails, 11 open; no new snow

    Elk Mountain – 27 trails, 10 open; no new snow

     

    Maryland:

    Wisp – 32 trails; 6 open; no new snow

     

    West Virginia:

    Timberline – 39 trails, 11 open; 1 inch new snow

    Canaan Valley – 19 trails, 5 open; no new snow

    Snow Shoe Mountain – 60 trails, 31 open; no new snow

     

    Virginia:

    Bryce Mountain – 8 trails, 4 open; 4 inches of new snow

    Wintergreen – 26 trails, 5 open; new snow

    The Homestead – 15 trails, 5 open; no new snow

    Massanutten – 14 trails, 2 open; no new snow
