Pie Sisters Get Ready to Dish It Up

Sick of Cupcakes? Forget 'Em

Sisters working together in the baked goods biz? Yeah, Georgetown knows allll about that. Now a new shop called Pie Sisters will be opening its doors by Thanksgiving.

Located not all that far from Georgetown Cupcake, Pie Sisters will fill the vacant spot where Tip Top Cleaners (3423 M St. NW) once was housed.

Alli, Erin and Cat Blakely started baking when they were kids in Falls Church, Va. While it started as a hobby, neighbors soon heard of the tasty talent and would ask for their pie creations. Despite local popularity, a pie shop remained just a pipe dream, Alli and Erin said.

They'd been working in New York -- one as a buyer and one on the business side of NBC -- and Cat was in contracting in the Middle East.

"[Starting a pie shop] was always just a crazy idea," said Alli.

Not anymore.

After building up a large base of clients in the DC area, the sisters decided they simply needed more room, and they moved back home to start the shop. They'll be serving up pie classics like pumpkin spice and cherry, but they've also crafted several speciality flavors like bourbon chocolate pecan, apple sourcream crunch and jumble berry.

Sizes range from "cuppies" (mini, single-serving pies) for $4 to nine-inch pies for $35 that come with a complimentary glass dish.

The sisters also make vegan and gluten-free versions of certain pie flavors. Pie for everyone!

No need to worry if you can't wait until the store opens to get your pie fix -- they're already taking orders on their website.
