Wizards Hold First Practice at Midnight

The Wizards are making sure to start the season in a groundbreaking way -- fans watch the team's first practice of the 2010-11 season at their Midnight Tip-Off tonight.

This makes the Wizards the first team in NBA history to hold a midnight practice to launch their season.

The event is being held at the Patriot Center at George Mason University. A pep rally at President's Park will kick start the event, to be hosted by Wizards DJ Big Tipper.

UPDATE: The 10 p.m. pep rally outside the Patriot Center has been cancelled becaues of weather. Only indoor activities will be held.

Doors open at 11 p.m. Catch a performance by D.C.'s Mambo Sauce and the GMU marching band. The Wizards Girls and G-Wiz will be on hand to give away T-shirts, prizes and more.

Fans who have work tomorrow morning will be have the chance to prepare for their early wakeup call. The first 500 people to arrive will receive coupons for free donuts and coffee from Dunkin' Donuts. And the first 300 fans to arrive will get free Chick-Fil-A sandwiches. There will also be opportunities to purchase special ticket offers for the basketball season.

Once the crowd is well fed and riled up, practice begins at midnight. Players will be introduced and fans can watch practice and participate in contests. The diehard fans who stay until the end will have a chance to win one of three prizes of $500 cash.
