Young Mother Killed in Crash in Suitland

Prince George's County police investigating single car crash.

Relatives are trying to cope with the loss of a young mother killed in a crash in Prince George’s County.

Police said Tyesha Williams, 18, was thrown from a car when it hit a tree on Hil-Mar Drive in Suitland around 1:30 a.m. Sunday. Detectives say the driver left the scene.

Williams was the mother of a little boy who was about to turn 2 years old.

Relatives say Tyesha was one of four passengers in the car. Family members also told News4's Darcy Spencer that the car apparently hydroplaned on standing water, went airborne and struck a tree.

Relatives also say there have been other crashes in the same area and they want Prince George’s County to investigate and correct the problems with the road.

Police say they’ve identified the driver and they’re investigating if speed and alcohol were factors.
