Woman Arrested at GMU Graduation

More than 100 locked out of Commencement

George Mason University police arrested a woman at the school’s commencement ceremony.

Frustrations ran high after campus police locked the doors to the Patriot Center. It was filled to its capacity of 10,000 people.

More than 100 friends and family of graduates for the School of Humanities and Social Sciences were left outside. Some just stood peering in, holding bouquets of flowers, appearing very confused.

The woman arrested was inside. She kept opening the doors to those outside, even after police told her stop, according to investigators.

Officers eventually restrained the woman. She was booked on a disorderly conduct charge.
