Capital Wheel Gets Ready to Light Up The National Harbor Skyline

After months of anticipation, the Capital Wheel is just days away from opening.

The newest addition to the National Harbor skyline will get rolling Friday, May 23, and will be open daily year-round.

At 180-feet, the Capital Wheel is the tallest observation wheel east of the Mississippi River and will offer riders a bird's eye view of the Washington Monument, U.S. Capitol, Potomac River, Alexandria and Prince George's County, Maryland.

The Capital Wheel arrived in Prince George's County back in February, hitching up the Potomac River on a tugboat. Here's a look at the construction of the Capital Wheel since its arrival.
