Wait, He's Not Dead!

Forensics team makes startling discovery

The actions of two paramedics are under review after they mistakenly concluded that a Prince George's County man was dead.

Fire and EMS units were called to the 8600 block of Glenarden Pkwy around noon Friday.  The dispatch told them they would be helping on a "possible deceased person."

Just four minutes after arriving, two paramedics determined that the man had indeed passed away. A forensics team was called in to determine that cause of death and collect evidence.

Around 1:30 p.m., a Prince George's County forensic official called for an ambulance. The man was showing signs that he was alive.

A different EMS unit than was first dispatched rushed the man to a nearby hospital.

The first group of paramedics are still on the job, but are temporarily in roles that have limited contact with the public. Prince George's County Fire/EMS is investigating their actions.
