Two Planes Collide in Carroll County

Carroll County officials said two small planes collided at Carroll County Regional Airport on Saturday afternoon.

The Carroll County Times reported officials responded to the airport just after 4 p.m. for reports of a collision. When they arrived, they learned the wings of two planes had clipped each in the air above the airport.

The Maryland State Police say there were no injuries reported.

Police said the pilot of an Aerobatic Biplane didn't see a Piper Single low wing plane and struck the aircraft as it was preparing to land. Police said the Piper made a safe landing on the runway, while the Aerobatic made a hard landing on a grassy field next to it.

Police said the pilot of the Aerobatic was flown to Shock Trauma as a precaution.
