Police are still looking for Jesus Garcia-Guinea, of 131 Webster St. N.W. #12 in D.C., and two unidentified accomplices in connection with the robbery and ensuing shooting, Prince William County police spokesman Jonathan Perok said."
MORAN MEASURE WOULD FORCE ARMY TO DEAL WITH TRAFFIC AT MARK CENTER
Washington Examiner: "Rep. Jim Moran, D-Va., didn’t quite get his wish, but his effort to force the Pentagon to fix traffic congestion problems near Alexandria's Mark Center remains in the 2011 Defense Authorization Bill that the House approved last week.
The provision Moran inserted into the massive defense bill was pared down, but would require the Army to submit within 90 days a detailed plan to fund and construction traffic improvements around the site to which thousands of defense workers are expected to move. The provision still limits parking on the site to 1,000 spaces, as Moran wanted."
FENTY TRANSFERS MONEY FROM JOB TRAINING TO HIS STAFF
Washington Post: "Mayor Adrian M. Fenty, who leaves office Jan. 2, used his authority to reprogram $495,000 designated for adult job training to give to his departing staff in "separation pay," according to a one-paragraph Dec. 14 letter he sent to Chief Financial Officer Natwar M. Gandhi.
The amount transferred skirted the $500,000 threshold that would have triggered approval by the D.C. Council.
On Tuesday, Council Chairman-elect Kwame R. Brown and council member Michael A. Brown sent Fenty a letter asking him to reverse the action."
NEW HOMES COMING TO BALSTON
Washington Business Journal: "New homes will soon rise where a former bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Arlington once slept.
McLean-based Madison Homes Inc. will break ground in early 2011 on 10 single-family detached homes and a new road on land the Diocese formerly owned — all as part of a new development called The Enclave of Ballston.
The 1.86-acre site, which the Diocese sold to Madison Homes, sits a half-mile from the Ballston Metro station."
