Dodge Caravan Most Stolen Vehicles In D.C. Area: Report

Dodge drivers, beware! The 2002 Dodge Caravan was the most stolen vehicle in D.C. and Maryland last year, according to a report by the National Insurance Crime Bureau (NICB).

More than 700,000 cars were stolen in the United States in 2014, the NICB said in its "Hot Wheels" report. The study ranks the top ten vehicle makes and models that were stolen in each state last year.

In Washington D.C., 2002 Dodge Caravans were the most stolen vehicle with 258 thefts in 2014. The 1996 Honda Accord ranks second with 194 thefts, followed by the Jeep Cherokee with 128 thefts.

The 2002 Dodge Caravan also topped the list in Maryland with 822 thefts. The 1997 Honda Accord was the top stolen vehicle in Virginia.

The Honda Accord also topped the national list with 51,290 thefts nationwide in 2014.
