A suspect has been arrested in Maryland in the deaths of a woman and her 2-year-old son whose bodies were found in a basement apartment on New York's Long Island.
Suffolk County police say 24-year-old Jerry A. Lewis was arrested Sunday in Laurel, Md. in the deaths of 21-year-old Shakeela Planter and her son Jaiden Planter. They were found Friday in their apartment in North Bay Shore on Long Island.
Lewis will be extradited to New York at a later date. No information on an attorney was immediately available.
