Prince George's County officials say the speed camera program is bringing in even more money than expected.

Tom Himler, the county's deputy chief administrative officer for budget, finance and administration, tells The Washington Examiner that the program will generate an estimated $8 million to $9 million from citations issued by cameras in fiscal 2012. Officials had originally projected $4.3 million in the budget.

The department is on pace to add about six cameras a month through the summer and officials say the county will have 72 mobile speed cameras by September.
