Showering Bandit Nabbed: Police

Suspected in series of burglaries

A fastidious burglary suspect has been arrested in connection with a series of break-ins in Old Town Manassas.

Edward Maurice Jones was arrested Thursday at his home on Bragg Lane in Manassas after officers executing a search warrant recovered recently stolen property, Manassas City Police said.

Jones first came under suspicion in a rash of Old Town Manassas burglaries in the early morning hours of July 2, when a Manassas City police officer observed Jones transferring copper from one container to another. He was arrested on grand larceny charges in that case.

Police say they also suspect Jones in other burglaries, including a curious after-hours break-in at a business in the 9300 block of Church Street.

A $1,500 IBM Think Pad was stolen, along with other items.

Evidence left at the scene showed the suspect took a shower and shaved before departing with the stolen gear.
