A second death from hypothermia has been confirmed in Maryland.

A woman aged 65 or older died recently in Prince George’s County, according to the state’s Department of Health and Mental Hygiene. It was not immediately clear exactly when the woman died, but the death was not confirmed to be hypothermia-related until this week, officials said.

The first hypothermia death of this winter was that of a man aged 65 or older in Frederick County. His death was confirmed to be hypothermia-related between Dec. 18 and Dec. 24.

Fifteen hypothermia-related deaths occurred in Maryland during the 2011-2012 winter weather season.
