Reward to Catch New Market Cemetery Vandals Increased

Still no arrests in desecration of historic site

A reward has been increased for information leading to an arrest in the vandalism of a cemetery in Frederick County, Md.

Overseers for the New Market Cemetery originally posted a $500 reward. The cemetery told News4 Tuesday evening that the reward total was up to $1,495 on Tuesday evening thanks to pledges from local businesses and community members.

About 20 headstones were knocked over, damaged or broken at the cemetery. The damage was discovered earlier this month, but it is unclear when it occurred.
