Red Line Stations Closing for Weekend

Single-tracking on Blue, Orange and Green lines

Metro is performing maintenance on all rail lines over the weekend, but the Red Line work likely will have the biggest impact on riders.

Metro is closing the Woodley Park and Cleveland Park stations on the Red Line from 10 p.m. Friday through system close Sunday for NTSB-recommended track circuit replacement -- a step toward automatic train operation.

Passengers will have to take shuttles between Dupont Circle and Van Ness. Riders traveling through the work zone should factor in 25 minutes for delays. Other Red Line riders can expect 10-minute delays.

On the Orange, Blue and Green lines there will be rail renewal work requiring single tracking:

  • On the Orange and Blue lines, trains will single-track between McPherson Square and Smithsonian.
  • On the Green Line, trains will single-track between Naylor Road and Branch Avenue.

Because of the track work, Yellow Line trains will only go between Huntington and Mount Vernon Square. Riders should use the Green Line to complete their trip.

Riders should allow 15 minutes extra time to travel.
