Real Officer Arrives When Fake Officer Makes Traffic Stop

Prince William County, Virginia, police are searching for man who was impersonating a police officer and pulling over a driver.

Investigators said officers were called to the area of Prince William Parkway and Reids Prospect Drive in Woodbridge, Virginia, around 10:30 p.m. Sunday. They said a white Chevrolet Silverado with blue flashing light mounted on the sun visors pulled over a vehicle at that location.

Police said a man got out of the Silverado and approached the pulled over vehicle, identifying himself as an off-duty police officer. When a marked Prince William County police cruiser arrived and an officer got out, the man got back in the Silverado and drove away.

The officer got back in his cruiser and found the Silverado a short distance away with no one inside. Investigators said the Silverado was reported stolen out of Fairfax County earlier on Sunday.

The man, described as a black male, 5 feet 9 inches tall, weighing 175 pounds and having a medium complexion, could not be found.
