Rabid Fox Found in Fairfax

No reports of contact with humans

Police are warning residents in Fairfax, Va., after a fox captured in the city tested positive for rabies.

A man called Animal Control after finding a sick fox lying in his driveway for several hours. Officers picked it up and took it to a nearby animal hospital, where veterinarians put it down.

There are no reports of anyone coming into contact with the fox.

Police are using this as a reminder to get your pets vaccinated and to avoid stray dogs and other wildlife. They say signs of possible rabies in an animal include snarling, growling, hissing or the animal biting itself or approaching people.
