The pilot of a private jet declared an emergency after striking a bird while approaching Washington Dulles International Airport on Monday.
Airport officials said the bird caused damage to the Hawker 800 jet, leading the pilot to declare the emergency.
Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority (MWAA) fire crews were dispatched to Runway 19-R around noon as a precaution in advance of the landing
The plane landed safely shortly before 12:30 p.m., but had to be towed off the runway. It was taken to the Signature aviation facility at Dulles.
There were no injuries reported. It's unknown where the plane had taken off from.
