Power Outage Hits Northwest D.C.

Power was out Thursday night for more than 2,500 Pepco customers in Glover Park, Cathedral Heights and along Wisconsin Avenue.

The outage began about 4:45 p.m. Thursday, according to Pepco, and affected 2,536 customers as of 6:45 p.m. As of 7:40 p.m., 1,530 homes were still without electricity.

D.C. Fire and E.M.S. was checking Thursday evening on reports of smoking manholes on the 3700 and 3800 blocks of Wisconsin Avenue NW.

Power was expected to be restored by 8 p.m., according to an update by Pepco. The previous restoration time was estimated to be 9 p.m.
