A tornado may have hit Ocean City, Md., before 5 p.m. Thursday.

A tornado hasn’t been confirmed, but there are reports of a funnel cloud touching down in several parts of the city and causing damage to buildings and cars and knocking down trees, Mayor Rick Meehan said.

Most of the damage isn't serious, Meehan said, but the roof was ripped off a three-story condo on 75th Street. Authorities evacuated the building.

    No injuries have been reported.

The thunderstorm that produced the wind event has moved east over the Atlantic, News4 meteorologist Veronica Johnson reported.

The National Weather Service will go to Ocean City Friday to perform it official assessment.
