Suspicious Device Taken to Prince George's County Police Station Was Inert Replica Grenade

A suspicious item taken to a Prince George’s County, Maryland, police station Monday evening was an inert replica grenade.

A man picking up garbage on Marblewood Avenue in Capitol Heights found what appeared to be a modern era grenade and took it to police in Palmer Park, police said.

The possible explosive was taken to the parking lot, police said, and the bomb squad was called in and safely removed the device.

Bomb technicians X-rayed the device to determine it was not a live grenade.
