Police: Would-Be Robber Killed in Pr. George's Co.

No charges filed in fatal shooting

Prince George's County police are investigating the death of a man who they believe was shot trying to rob two people in Hillcrest Heights early Sunday.

Investigators say the shooting happened at around 12:35 a.m. in the 4400 block of 23rd Parkway. Arriving officers found a man suffering from gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators say the deceased man approached two people who were sitting in a car and pulled out a handgun.

A struggle ensued between the shooting victim and one of the men in the car, during which police say the would-be robber was shot.

Police identified the deceased as 26-year-old Cordell Antonio Brown of southeast D.C.

Police are currently treating the matter as a justifiable homicide and no charges have been filed.
