Police Shoot, Kill 2 Pit Bulls During Dog Attack Rescue

It is unclear who owned the two dogs

A police officer shot and killed two pit bulls that attacked two women in Montgomery County Saturday night, police say.

The officer intervened in the attack after police recieved a call about an assault at a house in the 18000 block of Singing Pine Circle in Montgomery Village around 8:50 p.m on Saturday.

When the officers arrived at the house they saw an injured woman outside who was able to escape from the dogs and the house. They could also see two pit bulls attacking another woman who was still inside the house.

The officers entered the house and shot the dogs while trying to rescue the woman, police say.

The two women were hospitalized with injuries that were significant but not life-threatening, but the two dogs died from the gunshot wounds.

It is unclear who owned the dogs, but police say an investigation is ongoing.
