Police Seek Help in Fairfax Co. Mosque Vandalism

Damage estimated between $170K-200K

Police are asking for help finding a group of vandals who did considerable damage to a mosque in Fairfax County.

Late last month someone broke almost all the custom-sized windows at the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community mosque, which is under construction in Chantilly, Va. A worker found the damage early Jan. 30. Damage is estimated between $170,000 and $200,000.

Several bottles of alcohol were found under a construction tarp outside the mosque. Investigators believe some of the bottles, along with concrete blocks and wooden planks, were used to break the windows.

If you have any details about the crime, police want you to call the Fairfax County Crime Solvers at (866) 411-TIPS. You can also send information via text message to "TIP187." Police are offering a cash reward up to $1,000 in the case.
