Judge ordered son to stay away from father's home

Police in Washington, D.C., are investigating two deadly shootings, including an incident that involved a retired D.C. police officer and his son.

Police were called to the 2300 block of Woodridge Street NE at 9:30 p.m. Monday for a report of a shooting.

Carl Holloway, 33, allegedly attacked his father with a knife. His father, a retired D.C. police lieutenant, then shot and killed his son, police sources said.

Holloway was ordered to stay away from his father's home after allegedly attacking his father at the house Oct. 23. He was charged with simple assault and domestic violence and was supposed to appear before a judge Tuesday.

"You never imagine anything like this ever," said neighbor Kaye Love. "You would've never thought anything was wrong."

The father, James Holloway, is cooperating with investigators, police said.
