Police: No Shooter on Maryland University Campus

Police in suburban Baltimore say there is no active shooter on the Stevenson University campus, despite earlier reports to the contrary.

Baltimore County Police Department spokeswoman Elise Armacost told reporters Monday afternoon at the university's Owings Mills campus that officers are still trying to pin down the report of a person seen with a gun, and the campus remains on lockdown.

She says she can't confirm reports that a weapon was found.

The department says on its official Twitter account that the investigation began when two people saw what they thought was a person with a gun and called 911 about 2:25 p.m.

Telephone calls to university officials were not immediately returned.
