A tense and potentially dangerous situation had a happy ending when a small aircraft safely landed at the Chesterfield County Airport in Virginia after problems with its landing gear.
According to media reports, the twin-engine Beechcraft Baron with two people aboard circled the airport for more than an hour Thursday after the landing gear became stuck.
Fire Lt. Jason Elmore says a mechanic from Dominion Aviation instructed the pilot on how to hand-crank the landing gear into place, and the plane safely touched down about 12:15 p.m.
About 10 fire and rescue vehicles converged on the scene after authorities were alerted to the potential emergency.
