Man Grazed by Bullet Outside Maryland Shopping Center

One man was wounded in a shooting near Arundel Mills Mall Tuesday morning, police said.

The victim was grazed by a bullet while in his car, Anne Arundel County police said.

Lt. T.J. Smith says the man told police that he had just filled up his gas tank and was about to make a turn when another car pulled up and shots were fired. Smith says the man had a minor wound that was either a bullet graze or caused by shattered glass.

Police say the scene of the shooting is on Arundel Mills Boulevard, close to the PetSmart store. The shooting was reported just before 8 a.m. by the victim's relative.

Smith says the motive is unknown but that it appears the shooting was "out of nowhere.'' He says there's no indication the victim knew the shooter.

"It's a strange scenario,'' Smith said. "This is not something you see often at all.''

No arrests have been made.

Smith said police believe the shooting happened between 7 and 7:30 a.m. He said the injured man drove to his home about 10 minutes away in the Glen Burnie area before asking a relative to call police. The man needed the relative's help because he doesn't speak English, Smith said.
