The latest proposal for a Metro fare hike is closer to becoming a reality, but there could be some relief for riders: Local jurisdictions may be willing to pay more to ease the burden.

The Metro Board’s new proposal would require taxpayers to pay about $2.5 million more. That will be discussed Thursday.

Regardless, some sort of increase is coming. Metro says it’s needed to keep pace with inflation.
