Employees have returned to a building adjacent to the White House after it was at least partially evacuated "out of an abundance of caution," a U.S. Secret Service official told NBC News on Monday morning.

The official said that a canine alerted on a vehicle whose driver was looking to enter the New Eisenhower Executive Office Building.

The Secret Service said around 10 a.m. that the security alert was cleared and employees were permitted to return to their offices.
