National Symphony Performs Free Concerts in Columbia Heights

Part of "In Your Neighborhood" series

The National Symphony Orchestra is leaving the Kennedy Center this week to stage more than a dozen free performances and events in Washington's Columbia Heights neighborhood.

The performances began Wednesday night and run through Monday at theaters, schools, churches and bars in the neighborhood. The full orchestra will perform a free concert Friday night at the Columbia Heights Educational Campus. Tickets are required for the free event.

The ``In Your Neighborhood'' series is part of an effort for the orchestra to reach a wide audience with classical music. The visits throughout Columbia Heights will include educational programs along with performances.

The concerts are free but you need to reserve tickets to attend.  You can make reservations and learn more by visiting the Kennedy Center website here.
