Marion Barry was hospitalized at Howard University Hospital Thursday evening.

News4's Tom Sherwood reports Barry, 78, was feeling under the weather -- he's alert but not feeling well.

Barry had been complaining of a urinary tract infection and was hospitalized out of precaution.

He was hospitalized for similar reasons last February.

Barry received a kidney transplant five years ago and is also a diabetic. UTIs and other infections are not uncommon in those who receive kidney transplants as the immunosuppressants they take to prevent organ rejection also lowers the immune system, the National Kidney Foundation says.
