Marine Corps Marathon Registration Sells in Record Time

Race sold out in a record 2 hours, 27 minutes, according to The Washington Post

Registration for the Marine Corps Marathon in Washington sold out Wednesday, the first day public registration went online.

Members of the military were allowed to register early.

According to a report from The Washington Post, many runners were frustrated by an online registration process beset with glitches -- but the race still sold out in a record 2 hours, 27 minutes.

In 2012, the marathon sold out in two hours and 41 minutes.

The 26.2-mile course passes the Washington Monument, Lincoln and Jefferson Memorials as well as the Pentagon.

The 38th annual race will be held on Oct. 27.
