Manassas Dog Leaves Two Children Hospitalized

A helicopter transported one of the three children to a trauma center.

Two Manassas children were hospitalized after a dog bit them on Bragg Lane on Wednesday afternoon.

Three children were out on Bragg Lane around 5:45pm on Wednesday afternoon. Two of the children reached for the black lab's collar when they were attacked, according to police.

Two of the children were hospitalized for their injuries and the third was checked by hospital staff and released the same day.  On Thursday evening, both children remained hospitalized.

All three children suffered injuries. Two were taken to Prince William Hospital and the third child was flown to a D.C. trauma center by helicopter, according to police.

Police identified the owner of the dog to be 36-year-old Olga Herrera. Police citied Herrera for allowing the dog to run at large and one for not having a city dog license.

The Manassas City Animal Control Shelter currently holds the dog.
