A woman pulled out of the Potomac River Friday has been identified as 53-year-old Karjia Jiang.

Jiang was pulled out in life-threatening condition and died, Montgomery County Police said.

In a release, police said Jiang was visiting from China and staying with relatives in the 9100 block of Sterling Montague Drive in Great Falls. Jiang told her family that she was taking a walk in Great Falls National Park. It is unclear how or where Jiang entered the water, detectives said, but no foul play is suspected.

Anyone with information regarding how or where Jiang entered the Potomac River is asked to contact the Montgomery County– Major Crimes Division at 240-773-5070.  Callers may remain anonymous.
