Man Arrested in Vanessa Pham Murder

Fairfax County police arrested a man in the June 2010 murder of 19-year-old Vanessa Pham.

U.S. marshals picked up 27-year-old Julio Miguel Blanco-Garcia, of Falls Church, Thursday shortly after noon at a house under construction in Vienna, where Garcia was working. They turned him over to Fairfax County police. He was charged with murder and questioned.

Pham was found dead on Arlington Boulevard in Falls Church, Va. Her car was found in a ditch. She had been stabbed multiple times in the upper body.

In surveillance video showing Pham driving her car at the Fairfax Plaza Shopping Center just before her murder, she did not appear to be in distress.

Investigators developed Garcia as a suspect earlier this week through analysis of forensic evidence, police said. Garcia had several prior arrests for public drunkenness and petty larceny. according to authorities.

He was scheduled for an information hearing Friday, but it was rescheduled for Dec. 21 because he didn't have an attorney yet.

Lt. Col. James Morris, Fairfax County's acting chief of police, said they do not believe Garcia and Pham knew each other.
