Man Arrested, Breaks Handcuffs, Flees, Re-Arrested

A man in the custody of Prince George’s County, Maryland, police was able to break his handcuffs and flee before being recaptured Friday night, police said.

Officer Tyler Hunter said the man was arrested after a traffic stop for an open warrant on possession charges around 9:45 p.m. Friday. He was taken into custody to be transported to the county jail.

On the way to the jail, Hunter said the man was able to break the handcuffs and get out of the cruiser. A police perimeter was set up, and the man was taken back into custody around 10:15 p.m.

Police are not releasing the man’s name and are investigating how he was able to break the handcuffs. He will face an additional escape charge in addition to his prior charges.
