An Alexandria  woman was attacked this morning as she jogged on a path.

The 38-year-old victim told police she was grabbed from behind about 6 a.m. near Holmes Run Parkway and South Jenkins Street. She said she screamed, broke free and ran away.

The attacker was last seen heading toward Van Dorn Street.

The woman was not injured.

Anyone who may have witnessed the attack is asked to call Alexandria police. Witnesses can remain anonymous.

Police remind joggers to avoid running with headphones, run in well-lit areas, run with a partner if possible, carry a cellphone and let others know what routes you run.
