Gun Rights Group Contests Restrictions in Maryland Town

Gun rights group has called on Walkersville to repeal ban on shooting and carrying loaded guns in town

A guns rights group is contesting firearms restrictions in a Frederick County town.

The Second Amendment Group has called on Walkersville to repeal a ban on shooting and carrying loaded guns in town. There are some exemptions, including for people with state handgun permits or for those practicing at gun ranges or teaching firearms safety classes.

The Frederick News-Post reports that the group, based in Washington state, sent the town a letter last month and warned that it might sue.

Despite the warning, the town commissioners voted against changing the town code at a Wednesday night meeting.
