Former Pr. George's County Bus Driver Pleads Guilty to Making Child Porn

Faces sentencing in June

A former Prince George’s County Schools bus driver admitted to making child porn this week.

Scott Smallwood, 29, of Upper Marlboro, pleaded guilty to two counts of producing child pornography.

On May 15, 2010, prosecutors said Smallwood was in a 7-Eleven convenience store in Clinton, MD, where he left a microSD card on the counter.  Someone found the card and after viewing the contents, made a report to police.  According to investigators, the card contained multiple videos of a man engaging in sexually explicit behavior with a minor.

Detectives identified the man in the videos as former bus driver for Prince George's schools, Smallwood. Police said the videos showed Smallwood engaging in sexually explicit activity with a seven-year-old boy, and engaging in sexual behavior in front of a child.

Smallwood was arrested on May 21, 2010.  Prosecutors said he's admitted to having numerous inappropriate encounters with boys, and to producing sexual explicit images with boys with a cell phone.  Investigators said Smallwood told them he took the microSD card out of his phone to destroy it, but lost the card.

Smallwood faces 15 to 30 years in prison, and supervised release after that for the rest of his life.

He’ll be sentenced on June 5th.
