Firefighters Burned in 2-Alarm House Fire

Three firefighters were injured and crews were forced from a two-alarm blaze Saturday morning in Forestville, Md.

Prince George’s County Fire Department spokesman Mark Brady said via Twitter that a home at 2908 Walters Lane caught fire around 7:45 a.m. He said the fire spread rapidly throughout the structure and firefighters were forced from the building.

Fire Chief Marc Bayshoor said the firefighters were burned and taken to the Washington Hospital Center. Two of the firefighters were treated and released, and the third remains hospitalized with possible burns to his airway..

News 4's Derrick Ward said a larger structure was attached to the smaller home in the front. He said the bigger building, which also was on fire, was used as a boarding house.

Ward reports a 88-year-old woman was transported from the scene for observation.
