Federal D.C. Team Heading to NY for Fatal Train Collision

A federal investigative team headed from Washington to New York to investigate a commuter train crash that killed six people.

The National Transportation Safety Board team left Reagan National Airport near Washington on Wednesday morning. They were headed to the scene of the crash in Valhalla, about 20 miles north of New York City.

New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo says the collision between a Metro-North Railroad train and a Jeep Cherokee on Tuesday evening killed the SUV's driver and five people aboard the train.

Cuomo says about 15 others were seriously injured. Authorities say the impact was so forceful the electrified third rail came up and pierced the train.
