FBI, Police Seek Men Involved in Brinks Armored Car Robbery

An armored Brinks truck was robbed by two men in October, according to the FBI and two Maryland police departments.

FBI and Takoma Park police investigators said a Brinks armored truck was delivering money to a Suntrust Bank in the 6900 block of Laurel Avenue in Takoma Park, Maryland, just before noon on Oct. 25. The guard was approached by two men with assault rifles, who stole the money the guard was carrying.

Officials said the men fled the scene, and the guard was not injured.

Witnesses described the robbers as two black men, about 6 feet tall, thin and wearing Tyvek or painters style suits and gloves. The getaway vehicle was described as a maroon 4-door sedan, possibly a Lexus 350, with temporary tags.

The armed robbery is being investigated jointly by the FBI, the Takoma Park Police Department and the Montgomery County Police Department.
