A Falls Church, Va., house once called an eyesore by neighbors is now a safety concern after burning down over the weekend.

By the time firefighters arrived at about 1:10 a.m. Sunday, a three-story house under construction in the 2100 block of Haycock Road was totally engulfed in flames.

Now, the only thing left is burnt rubble, the house's foundation and the yellow tape sectioning off the area.

An investigation will began Monday into the cause of the blaze and will likely be lengthy due to the exent of the destruction.

No one was home at the time of the fire and no one was hurt, including the firefighters who spent hours trying to control the blaze.

Neighbors told WTOP that the house had been under construction for years and was an "eyesore" in the neighborhood. With an elementary school just across the street, they're concerned children could fall into the now exposed basement.

The house was sold in November 2006 for $450,000, according to county records. The house was recently assessed for $450,270 in 2010, according to public records.
