An event at the National Harbor is bringing science fiction and science fact together in an education convention.
Escape Velocity is a micro futuristic world’s fair to promote STEM education within the context of science fiction using the fun of comic cons and fascination of science and engineering festivals. Guests for the event included the sons of two of Star Trek’s famous names, Rod Roddenberry, son of creator Gene Roddenberry, and Adam Nimoy, son of Leonard Nimoy.
Former NASA astronaut and Space Shuttle commander Pam Melroy will also be at the event. Sunday’s schedule includes discussion panels and workshops.
There will also be a kids demo of model rockers and a Starship bridge simulator for fans of the Star Trek franchise.
