An 18-year-old has been arrested by D.C. police, who say the man attacked and beat an elderly woman in her home Wednesday morning.

Tyran McElrath was picked up yesterday on Savanagh Place Southeast D.C. Sources say they believe McElrath had been in the neighborhood looking for potential targets before the break-in.

According to police, the McElrath entered the home through a broken basement window of the house located in the Chevy Chase neighborhood of Northwest D.C.

The woman, who is visually impaired and hard of hearing, was found beaten and disoriented by letter carrier Teddy Settles at the front of her home. Police say she was punched in the head and face, and her Apple computer was stolen.
