Family Dog Shot During Home Invasion

Details still sketchy in home invasion

A dog was shot and killed during a brazen home invasion Sunday in Oxon Hill.

Six or seven males broke into a home in the 1600 block of Birchwood Drive in Oxon Hill, Md. just after 2 p.m., and assaulted the homeowner’s son and then shot the family's dog, according to police officials.

The victim’s age and condition was not immediately known, said Prince George's County police Cpl. Henry Tippett.

The attackers fled the scene in two vehicles: a black Mercedes and a gold Chevy Tahoe

It is still unclear whether or not the attackers actually took anything.
