Remember that fire hydrants get cold and lonely, too. While you're digging out your car and/or your lawn gnomes, remember to excavate those hydrants, too, Loudoun County officials remind us. If a fire should occur in your neighborhood, firefighters will lose time digging out the hydrants.

More than 20 inches of snow hit the District this weekend, as if you didn't know. And you're going to want to get cracking on that digging soon, before the ice turns into a chilly version of compacted cement.
