    Fairfax Co. Police are invetigating a deadly officer-involved shooting after an attempted traffic stop.

    Fairfax County Police are investigating an officer-involved shooting that left one man dead.

    An officer pulled over a green SUV near the intersection of Rt. 1 and Fort Hunt Rd in Alexandria, police said. The driver of that vehicle stopped but then sped off.

    The SUV came to a stop after hitting a sedan. That driver was not seriously injured.

    At least one shot was fired into the suspect's car, hitting the driver.

    Fairfax County Police are investigating a deadly officer-involved shooting in Alexandria.

    "We don't know the circumstances of the traffic stop and the circumstances of the shooting remain under investigation," said Officer Bud Walker, a spokesperson for Fairfax County police.

    The suspect was taken to Mt. Vernon Hospital where he later died.
